All states and territories in Australia until recently have based their confined space requirements on the Australian Standard AS/NZS 2865:2001. Due to the update of this Australian Standard to AS 2865:2009 Confined Spaces in September 2009 it has become urgent for all currently trained confined space workers to receive update training to understand their obligations. This is immediate for Queensland workers as AS 2865 is inscribed in Qld WH&S Regulation 2008 as is.
Other states will have to follow suite as soon as new regulations are published for that state. A simple way to achieve this is to have workers attend a one day Reassessment course asap.
Regular reassessment is a requirement under the legislation.
